Biology | This is not a parasitic crustacean. The body is ca. 4 cm long and ca. 1 cm wide. It possesses a cephalon with two pairs of antennae and a pair of big compound eyes, a thorax with 7 segments and an abdomen with 6 segments (Figs. 1, 2). A well-developed abdominal appendage was used for swimming. |
Health hazard | Since this parasite is not infectious to human, it is harmless in food hygiene. |
Other information | This crustacean is thought to get into the cavity of squid by accident during the catch. |
