Parasite | Unknown organism |
---|---|
Taxonomy | Unknown |
Host | Viviparous scorpionfish (Sebastiscus marmoratus) |
Infection site | Gill |
Clinical sign | Many white and refractile spots are observed in the gill (Figs. 1 and 2). |
Parasitology | The parasite body is round in shape. It has outer (ca. 300 Κm in diameter) and inner (ca. 170 Κm) rings. The outer ring is possibly formed by hostfs tissues (or cartilaginous tissues) encapsulating the parasite body. Inside the inner ring is filled with small particles (7-18 Κm). |
Pathology | Infected fish turned over and died shortly after taking away from water. |
Health hazard | Unknown |
Other information | The organisms are found in the 0- year seedlings of viviparous scorpionfish. |
